In addition to my role as a Senior Designer at Bounteous, I was also the co-founder and co-lead of b: proud – our LGBTQIA+ Employee Resource Group. When planning for Pride in 2019, we came up with the idea of creating a tool that could allow people to add a frame around their Slack profile picture to celebrate. Paige Keenan, a Senior Front-End Developer at Bounteous, raised her hand to build the tool and actually make it happen.
The end result is a simple and fun web app where anyone can choose from 15 different Pride flag frames. Upload your photo, choose your flag, and download your new flag-ified profile image. You can try it for yourself here.
The response we received from both coworkers and folks outside the company was tremendous. The site was featured alongside other inclusive initiatives on the Bounteous blog. It was also shared on Slack’s official social channels and visited by over 1550 unique users in its first two weeks post-launch.
